About Us
After more than 30-years in seafood sales and marketing, our founder and company president, Lawrence D. Bushnell (Larry), started Gratia Dei Seafoods with the vision of creating a supply chain of delicious seafood from the Americas to countries that do not typically have access to our unique products.

Larry graduated from the University of Washington in 1984 with a BA in Japanese Language and Literature. Immediately after graduating, he started working as a deckhand and boat translator in Alaska for the famous Bristol Bay sockeye salmon fishery. He worked on vessels and shore plants for three years. With his primary processing experience, he was able to quickly learn the North Pacific seafood industry by trading various products for 12-years. His experiences allowed him to transition to a position of Asian sales manager for an Alaskan processor that was later purchased by Trident Seafoods.

Along this journey, he managed several products and programs including selling bulk raw materials, buying and importing finished goods, and overseeing custom processing operations. Additionally, he was in charge of developing programs to promote underutilized species such as sea cucumber, Greenland turbot, and smelt among others.
